PRAYER FOR POPE BENEDICT XVI

Please Do This Novena For Our Holy Father

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

The Catholic Church is under attack, both externally and internally.  Some of the attack is valid, and we must all make corrections in our lives for those sins and errors of judgment that we have committed.  Some of the attack is persecution of the Church, not based on facts, but based on hatred for the Church that Christ founded.

Much of the attack is now being aimed at Our Holy Father.  We are biblically called on to pray for all our leaders, not only in bad times, but in good as well.  He needs the power of our prayerful support.

The Knights of Columbus, of which I am a member have developed a novena prayer for the Holy Father, to intercede for him to have courage and right judgment, as well as knowledge and love, in his role as our spiritual leader.  I invite you to pray this along with me and many other Knights throughout the world, beginning on Sunday April 11, and continuing for 9 days until April 19.  You do not need to be a Knight of Columbus to join in this novena.

Let us offer our prayers for Our Holy Father, as he prays for us, and seeks to guide us in the faith.

You may follow the link here to the KofC web site, where you can see an invitation to join the prayer, and also a pdf of the prayer card, and 6 to a page printable prayer cards.

PRAYER FOR POPE BENEDICT XVI

Lord, source of eternal life and truth, give to your shepherd, Benedict, a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care, may he, as successor to the Apostle Peter and Vicar of Christ, build your Church into a sacrament of unity, love and peace for all the world. Amen.

V/ Let us pray for Benedict, the pope.

R/ May the Lord preserve him, give him a long life, make him blessed upon the earth, and not hand him over
to the power of his enemies.

V/ May your hand be upon your holy servant.

R/ And upon your son, whom you have anointed.

Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
